What we have to offer

by on October 27, 2010

The Textual Archives staff here at Archives II is constantly working on new and exciting projects. However, until social media came along we had no way of sharing our work with the public except for perhaps a Prologue article, a “Descriptions Created or Updated Since” search on our Archival Research Catalog (ARC), or direct researcher contact with a reference archivist. While these are all great ways of seeing what records processing archivists have worked with and made ready for public use, we seek to provide additional information on our records as they become available.

This blog provides processing and reference archivists, who work with the records daily, a chance to share the knowledge and insight we develop through our work. We intend to share interesting records we discover in the course of our work with the public. We hope to spark further research interest in the records we preserve and describe.

If you stick with us, we will unveil a treasure trove of information that will hopefully relate directly to your particular research interest. We do not intend to provide an alternative to our normal methods of reference service. Instead we have created another outlet for the public to discover records online in order to make research easier before coming to our facility.

We look forward to the new relationship this blog forges between the Textual Archives staff and you, the public!
