Music, Museums, & Merriment!
Happy Holidays from the staff of the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library & Museum! We can’t believe another year has come and gone… Best wishes to all for a great ending to 2013 and a fantastic beginning for 2014.If you are in Atlanta for the holidays, we would love for you to stop by and visit us! In addition to our regular exhibits and museum hours, there are plenty of other reasons to visit.
- There will be a concert on Sunday, December 15th from 1:00pm to 2:00pm in the museum lobby. It will feature the Georgia National Guard 116th Army Band and is free and open to the public. No reservations are needed.
- Also, be sure to check out our latest exhibit: “Diplomatic Patterns: A Sampling of White House China” is an exhibit that will be featured at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library & Museum until March 2, 2014. This temporary exhibit is included at no extra charge with your museum admission.
“Very rarely do guests to The White House even get to see the china collection, but visitors to the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum will be able to take a close look at plates used for State Dinners and presentation pieces given to U.S. Presidents. Presidents and first ladies have used White House social events as a means of conveying national honor and extending diplomatic relationships with other countries. Based on the private collections of Mr. and Mrs. Set Momjian and President and Mrs. Carter, with pieces from the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site and the Rutherford Hayes Presidential Center, ‘Diplomatic Patterns’ will show a sampling of the china that was used for these important events.”
While you are here, you and yours can pose for pictures around our replica 1980 White House Christmas tree in the museum lobby and stroll the grounds.
