Online Public Access is now available!

by on December 28, 2010

The National Archives’ new search interface is now available! Check out Online Public Access at www.archives.gov/research/search!

The National Archives’ flagship initiative in our Open Government plan is to develop online services to meet the 21st century needs of the public. Toward that end we have revamped our website, including taking a new look at how we provide online access to our holdings.

The Online Public Access prototype includes:
• Access to information about our records that is currently in the Archival Research Catalog (ARC) and on Archives.gov, and selected electronic records from Access to Archival Databases (AAD) and the Electronic Records Archives (ERA) – all through one search!
• Search Refinements and Topic Clusters to limit your results in a variety of ways, such as by date or location, or focus on a topic of interest

Let us know what you think at search@nara.gov!

Hi Phil,

Not all Navy Deck Logs from WW2 are digitized and available online. Here is a link to the series description in our online catalog: http://arcweb.archives.gov/arc/action/ExternalIdSearch?id=594258

The best way to request Navy Deck Logs is to submit a request to the Archives II Reference Section:
Archives II Reference Section
Textual Archives Services Division
8601 Adelphi Rd.
College Park, MD 20740-6001
Phone: 301-837-3510
Email: Archives2reference@nara.gov

The series is “Logbooks of the U.S. Navy Ships and Stations, 1941-1978″ (ARC Identifier 594258 / HMS Entry Number A1 118). In your request, please include the ship name as well as the month and the year of the particular log you would like to request.
Good luck with your research,
Meredith
