Smithsonian Zoo sends ground hogs to zoo in Kabul, Afghanistan
Hello! This is Kristin Davidson, a member of the Social Media Team here at the National Archives. In honor of Groundhog Day, I wanted to share this telegram with you. Hope you enjoy looking at this document as much as I did.
In 1974, the Smithsonian National Zoo donated two groundhogs and three opossums to the Kabul Zoo. The Head of the Kabul Zoo was pleased to accept the groundhogs and opossums. Here are two more telegrams discussing the donations:
